i call it a draft, for i know not what i might learn tomorrow. Nevertheless, all my readings in evolution, psychology and neuroscience thus far can be summed up in three simple words:
“…Existence Precedes Essence…”
“… The concept of man does not exist before his own existence. First of all, Man exists, turns up, appears on the scene and only then he defines himself. At first, he is nothing. Only afterward he will be something, and he himself will have made what he will be. Man is nothing else but what he makes of himself. Man is nothing else than his plan; he exists only to the extent that he fulfills himself; he is nothing else than an ensemble of his acts. A man may be born a slave in a pagan society or a feudal lord or a proletarian. What does not vary is the necessity for him to exist in the world, to be at work there, to be there in the midst of other people, and to be mortal there. These limits or necessities are not a priori defined. These necessities are lived and are nothing if man does not live them, i.e., freely determine his existence with reference to them…” - Jean Paul Sartre: Existentialism and Human Emotions
