Last weekend we went to Phillipsburg, Georgetown lake and Grant Kohrs Ranch. The night before the trip, there was Christmas party and I ended up being a party animal with just 2 hours of sleep before the trip. If you are wondering why we were having a “Christmas party” in October, it was because we were celebrating Jesus’s birthday – a dude from Uruguay!
Anyways, we started from I-house at 8 in the morning and went straight to Phillipsburg which was a supply center for the nearby mining towns which turned into ghost towns after mining ended but supply towns like Phillipsburg survived because of being a center of trade and commercial activity. We did some Sapphire mining there and I found around 7-8 small blue-green sapphires. We also bought gravel containing African gems which me and Aleksi are gonna mine for gems in his dorm. The we went to see the town, saw an old country jail with a hanging space, ate a disgusting burger and then went to Georgetown lake – one of those rare places where you would prefer being alone than with a pretty dame!
Then we passed through Anaconda and went to the smelting site for supplies from a mining town – butte! Then we went to the Grant kohrs Ranch – a National park where you get a real feel of the CowBoyLand! We met an amazing blacksmith. She (Yess She!) knew how to say blacksmith in almost all national languages – Japanese, Arabic, Spanish, French, Hindi, Chinese and what not!!! She asked a question about the first civilization in South America associated with Blacksmith activity and thats how I won a freshly made hook as a souvenir!
