Sept 17 2009, Missoula, Montana (U.S.)
Warm, friendly people, open sky, fresh air… That was the first impression of Missoula when I first flew in here on 21st of August. Missoula is one of the most friendliest places I have ever been to. It welcomed me with open arms and never made me feel that I am thousands of miles away from my family and friends.
I started from New Delhi at 2:30 in the morning for Frankfurt where I spent 6 lazy hours waiting for my connecting flight to Denver. Once I was in Denver, I got lost! Somehow I managed to board the United’s Flight to Missoula barely 5 minutes before it was about to take off. At the airport, I was greeted with a BIG smile and hugged by Clark – THE most friendliest, helpful and sincere person I have ever met in my life!
One of my baggage was delayed and I was smelling of coca cola, courtesy the nice friendly old lady who didnt realize that she knocked off a glass of coke on me while telling me about one of the books she’s writing! Thanks to dry weather in Missoula, I didn’t miss the deodrants in my other bag much! Clark took me to his parent’s home where I spent the night. Next morning, he took me to city tour on his motorbike and in the evening, I moved in to his apartment as a roommate. We went to a potluck party at one one of the Clark’s friends who got fulbright. It was weekend, so Clark took me for rowing down Clark and Fork river next day.. It was an amazing start in a new country… just one day in US and I was rowing through amazing American wilderness…!
To be continued…
